Completed Card Sales Search On EBAY: No More Next Month ?

VCP may get some new subscribers, after this change.

//////////

"Aug 18, 2008 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Terapeak, an eBay Certified Provider, today announced that Marketplace Research by Terapeak is being offered as an alternative for eBay Marketplace Research, which eBay plans to retire as of September 15th, 2008. Available to all existing eBay Marketplace Research subscribers, and to all eBay users going forward, the tool will be accessible from the eBay website, and Terapeak will provide dedicated customer support."

The new market research tool:

http://www.terapeak.com/signup/

Free limited results spanning a 14 day time period, $24.95 a month/$119.88 a year for 90 days of listing results. Additional monthly fees required for some "Addons"
Terapeak also offers 2 years of category trending in addition to search, if you are a paying subscriber.

I added a question-mark to the title, because I cannot figure this carp out.

The original announcement is confusing. When I do searches by items, I
am only getting a few returns. When I search by seller, I am getting 2-weeks.

I dunno.

So marketplace research goes away, but I am guessing you can still do the 2 weeks completed search.

In reading their announcement, I cannot tell if the 2-weeks will be "by seller only,"
    OR "all sales."

    I'll read more.

Ebay knows that they can get away with anything they want because there is no competition. They can't leave it alone, can they? If it ain't broke, they always try to fix it.

It looks to me like they are just replacing ebay Market Research with Terapeak Market Research. You still will be able to search ended items for the last 2 weeks.
  • didnt the search feature used to extend to 30 days?

It is when you search completed auctions looking at the final prices. This gives you a guage on recent selling trends and prices.

Yes, but they saved a few bucks on server-capacity by cutting back.

Folks who tour some of the facilities are shocked to see the antiquated
machines in use. They look like the computers from "War Games."

OK, thats what I thought but another poster implied there was a difference between viewing completed auctions and this "marketplace research."

Marketplace research lets you go further back. Like 60 days I think. It gives you charts and graphs and other stuff you will never use.
